Paso Robles 5: Austin Hope Treana Tasting Cellars

Wayward Wine continues its exploration of Paso Robles wineries. One day starts in search of wine for a wedding. An up-scaled, wood-planked warehouse sits between biotech buildings and similar sheds. Inside, large indigo walls fly up two stories, splattered with animal heads and art. Lipstick red metal chairs frame the reclaimed wood bar and tables. We leave Paso Robles for another wedding (my brother’s) and then return. But on our way back to Paso, we stop in Arroyo Grande Valley for some bubbles. Paso Robles 1: Fratelli Perata Winery

Last August, while killing time in a never ending sea of weddings, Wayward Wine toured Paso Robles, California.

Paso is an American Viticultural Area (AVA) a three hour drive North of Los Angeles (without traffic…so, five hours). For us it took twelve hours from our home in Oregon. To overgeneralize, Paso is a large, hot, dry, sunny, inland plain. Continue reading →

New Year Sparkling Wine: Champagne vs Cremant de Limoux and Loire
